Leveraging a proprietary drug discovery platform, they are advancing a broad portfolio of therapies with the potential to change the treatment landscape for oncology.
The Role:
They are seeking a talented, collaborative, and highly motivated Senior Scientist II to join their Oncology Drug Discovery team. This role requires working closely with a multidisciplinary research group to discover new small-molecule therapeutics for cancer treatment.
The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in contemporary cancer biology, drug discovery, and oncology, and will apply this knowledge to drive innovative drug discovery programs. This individual will work independently while being an integral part of the larger team to achieve collective goals.
What You'll Do:
- Design and conduct experiments to identify and validate potential novel drug targets using state-of-the-art multiomics-based approaches.
- Develop and optimize biologically relevant assays, including biochemical and cellular assays, to assess the therapeutic potential of targeted small molecules.
- Work closely with senior team members to explore and develop actionable biomarkers with potential translational applications.
- Collaborate with biologists, medicinal chemists, and external partners to advance drug discovery programs.
- Guide and mentor junior scientists both within and outside the laboratory.
- Document experimental design, data analysis, and interpretation in an ELN and LIMS system.
- Stay current on scientific and technological advancements in the field.
- Author technical reports and presentations to communicate data and findings.
- Contribute to the collaborative culture and mission to solve complex biological challenges.
- Adhere to safety, compliance, and corporate policies.
Qualifications:
- PhD in a scientific discipline (Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, etc.)
- 5 years in drug discovery (biotech or pharma)
- Oncology (not a hard requirement, but very highly desired)
- If no oncology experience, you must have a strong discovery background in industry
- If no industry experience, must have a strong cancer/oncology background
- Strong technical skills in molecular and cell biology techniques.
- Ability to independently design and execute complex experiments.
- Flexibility to manage multiple research programs simultaneously.
- A strong track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals and/or presentations at high-caliber scientific conferences is highly preferred.
