Overview

My client, a cutting-edge space infrastructure startup, is seeking an experienced CNC Programmer/Machinist to program, set up, and run advanced 5-axis machines. You will machine complex aerospace components to ultra-tight tolerances alongside engineers building next-generation space hardware.

This role offers real ownership, including generous equity and the opportunity to help build the future of aerospace manufacturing!

Key Responsibilities

  • Program, set up, and operate 5-axis CNC mills.
  • Machine aerospace components to ultra tight tolerances.
  • Own the full machining process from print to part: CAM programming, fixturing, setup, operation, and inspection.
  • Machine a variety of materials, including stainless steel, Inconel, PEEK and carbon composites.
  • Create and apply custom fixturing and workholding solutions for prototype builds.
  • Develop efficient toolpaths using Mastercam or similar CAM software; incorporate probing and macros to streamline setups.
  • Collaborate with engineering to provide DFM feedback and improve part manufacturability.
  • Support process documentation and contribute to standardizing best practices.

Key Qualifications

  • 5-10+ years of hands-on experience setting up, programming, and operating 5-axis CNC mills (Haas, DMG Mori, etc.) to machine complex aerospace parts
  • Strong Mastercam expertise (3+2 and full 5-axis)
  • Solid understanding of CNC code and shop floor programming edits
  • Experience with exotic metals, GD&T, and inspection tools
  • Driven by the challenge and impact of a mission-driven startup, with a desire to mentor others
  • *ITAR compliance required
