Senior Project Manager – DSA Education (Public Works)

Salary: $150,000-170,000
Overview
I’m partnering with a well-established and highly respected Commercial General Contractor with a strong presence across California that is continuing to grow. They’re seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager with a proven background delivering DSA K–12 and higher education projects through the hard-bid public works delivery method.
This role is ideal for a Senior PM who takes full ownership of projects from preconstruction through closeout and also plays an active role in winning work. The right candidate will help support pursuits, build relationships with school districts and design teams, and contribute to the company’s continued growth in the San Diego education market.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead DSA education and public works projects from preconstruction through closeout.
- Manage hard-bid delivery, including estimating, bid day execution, scope review, leveling, and buyout.
- Prepare and manage project budgets, schedules, and cost forecasts.
- Coordinate with DSA inspectors, architects, engineers, and school district stakeholders.
- Ensure strict compliance with DSA requirements, public works regulations, and contract documents.
- Oversee subcontractor procurement, contract administration, and change management.
- Maintain strong communication with clients, project teams, and field personnel.
- Support business development and pursuit efforts, including bid strategy, interviews, and client presentations.
- Develop and maintain relationships with school districts, architects, and trade partners to help secure repeat work.
- Ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
Required Qualifications
- 8–12 years of commercial construction experience with strong tenure.
- Demonstrated success delivering DSA K–12 or higher education projects.
- Hard-bid public works experience is mandatory.
- Experience working for a Commercial General Contractor.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering preferred.
- Hands-on experience with estimating, budgeting, and cost control.
- Ability and willingness to participate in work-winning efforts.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Local San Diego market experience.
- Familiarity with school district procurement processes.
- Experience managing multiple projects concurrently.
- Established relationships with education-sector clients or trade partners.
