Electrical Engineer – Medical Device Manufacturing

Our client is a leading engineering and manufacturing partner for the medical technology industry, dedicated to developing innovative solutions that improve patient outcomes worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop system test plans for design validation of capital equipment medical devices
  • Define test methodologies and coverage to ensure product reliability
  • Design and document cable harnesses using CAD tools and coordinate with external vendors to ensure correct fabrication
  • Create detailed test procedures based on product requirements
  • Troubleshoot Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBA) including board-level analysis and root cause investigation
  • Train internal teams and external vendors on proper use of test fixtures, including remote locations
  • Perform PCBA rework and develop rework documentation for manufacturing partners
  • Design and document electrical test fixtures (hardware and software) and support verification and commissioning strategies
  • Create and maintain work instructions, forms, and engineering documentation in document management systems
  • Review and interpret customer electrical specifications and develop electrical test fixtures accordingly
  • Test embedded system firmware based on defined test plans and log defects in issue tracking systems
  • Maintain required documentation and records within the ERP system
  • Collaborate with customers, suppliers, and internal teams, including PCBA manufacturers
  • Assist with or lead the development of low-volume prototypes, including PCBAs and cable assemblies
  • Travel occasionally to support supplier or customer compliance testing

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 3–5 years of relevant electrical engineering experience
  • Ability to interpret and create electrical schematics for control systems
  • Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills
  • Ability to create and interpret electrical drawings and diagrams

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) testing and rework
  • Experience with surface-mount soldering and electronics troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with LabVIEW programming
  • Experience using oscilloscopes, multimeters, and other electronic test equipment
  • Experience with cable harness CAD software (e.g., electrical design or harness design platforms)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
  • Ability to deliver technical presentations
  • Ability to be customer-facing when it comes to design, prototyping and troubleshooting
