Senior Video / Backend Engineer (Live SRT Pipelines)
Location: Remote (US, east coast preferred)
We’re building real-time ML systems that sit directly in live broadcast workflows. Our software ingests live streams (e.g. sports), processes them in real time, and returns broadcast-quality output with ultra-low latency.
This role owns the backend infrastructure that makes that possible. Candidates may come from one of two backgrounds.
Who You Might Be
Option 1 – Backend Engineer with Video Experience
- Built backend systems at a video or streaming company
- Experience running FFmpeg-based live or transcoding pipelines
- Familiar with HLS / live streaming workflows and cloud infrastructure
Option 2 – Video / Broadcast Engineer with Backend Experience
- Background in broadcast, live production, or linear TV
- Deep familiarity with SRT and professional video formats
- Experience automating or coding live media pipelines (FFmpeg / libav / GStreamer)
What You’ll Do
- Build and operate SRT-based live video pipelines
- Use FFmpeg to decode, process, and re-encode video/audio in real time
- Integrate ML processing into live streams with strict latency requirements
- Optimize systems for reliability and long-running stability
Core Requirements
- Hands-on experience with live video systems
- Strong production experience with FFmpeg (required)
- Familiarity with SRT, RTMP, or RTP/RTSP
- Backend or systems programming experience
