Senior Nuclear Fuels Licensing Engineer
We are seeking a Senior Nuclear Fuels Licensing Engineer to lead regulatory licensing activities for advanced nuclear fuel cycle technologies and facilities. This role will serve as a primary interface with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), supporting licensing strategy, regulatory submissions, and compliance efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead development of NRC license applications, amendments, and regulatory submissions.
- Serve as the primary technical liaison with NRC staff during licensing reviews, audits, inspections, and regulatory engagements.
- Support safety analyses, regulatory compliance programs, and licensing strategy development.
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, and safety teams to ensure regulatory requirements are integrated into facility design and operations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of experience in the nuclear industry.
- Direct experience within the nuclear fuel cycle (conversion, enrichment, deconversion, fuel fabrication, or related areas).
- Working knowledge of uranium hexafluoride (UF₆) processes, operations, and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrated experience interacting with the NRC on licensing, regulatory, or compliance matters.
- Strong understanding of NRC regulations governing fuel cycle facilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience at a U.S. Department of Energy national laboratory.
- Experience working in a startup or fast-paced technology development environment.
- Experience with advanced fuels, HALEU, enrichment, or fuel fabrication programs.
- Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in a relevant technical discipline.
