Job Title: Senior Turbomachinery Engineer
Location: Los Angeles, California – Onsite
Compensation: $160,000-$210,000 + Equity
Hours: Monday to Friday – flexible hours

The Client:
Lumicity has partnered with a growing clean energy startup based in Los Angeles, California on their search for a Senior Turbomachinery Engineer to join their team. This client is in the early stages of their development and is seeking a hands-on engineer who can take ownership of the full lifecycle of high-speed rotating machinery.
The Responsibilities:
- Take ownership of the full lifecycle of turbomachinery (turbines, shafts, rotors, turbopumps etc) and high-pressure systems, from design to prototype, analysis, testing, and through to validation.
- Carry out hand calculations, FEA, thermal, structural, fatigue and vibration analysis to validate the designs
- Produce detailed CAD models, engineering drawings and assembly documentation
- Support the manufacturing team where required to ensure the designs you have produced are created correctly
- Offer technical expertise and advice following product delivery, making improvements to products where required
The Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar field
- 3+ years’ experience within mechanical engineering, leading the full lifecycle of turbomachinery and high-pressure systems
- Strong understanding of ASME principles, particularly ASME Y14.5
- Solid understanding of fluid mechanics, thermodynamics and other core mechanical engineering principles
- Extensive knowledge of FEA, thermal, structural, fatigue and vibration analysis, with knowledge of ANSYS
- Previous experience working within a startup environment is highly advantageous
