About the role
Our client is an advanced manufacturing startup developing technologies for the aerospace, defense, and energy industries. It’s hiring a CNC Manufacturing Engineer to join a highly technical, hands-on engineering team working on complex, precision-machined components and tooling.
You’ll own projects from CAM programming through to final production. That means developing programs, setting up and running CNC milling and turning equipment, and manufacturing high-precision molds, tooling, and prototype components. Precision work of this kind typically involves holding tight tolerances, verifying parts against engineering drawings and GD&T callouts with inspection tools such as micrometers, height gauges, or a CMM, and refining toolpaths for complex 3D surfaces.
You’ll also shape how parts get made. You’ll work with design engineers to improve manufacturability, choose and refine cutting tools, machining strategies, and fixturing methods, and support tooling development and equipment maintenance. As the company grows, you’ll help establish machining processes that can scale.
The organization is looking for someone who can work independently while contributing to a collaborative team, in an environment where priorities move quickly.
Main responsibilities
- Develop CAM programs, and set up and operate CNC milling and turning equipment
- Manufacture high-precision molds, tooling, and prototype components
- Collaborate with design engineers to improve manufacturability and optimize production processes
- Select and optimize cutting tools, machining strategies, and fixturing methods
- Support tooling development, equipment maintenance, and manufacturing improvements
- Help establish scalable machining processes
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent experience
- 1-4+ years of CNC machining experience
- Experience with CAD/CAM software such as Mastercam, Fusion 360, Onshape, or similar
- Hands-on experience with CNC vertical machining centers and lathes
- Strong understanding of GD&T, engineering drawings, and machining practices
- Ability to work independently in a collaborative, fast-moving environment
Nice to have:
- Experience in precision manufacturing, mold making, or complex 3D surfacing
The offer
- Based in El Segundo, CA
- Hands-on ownership of projects from programming through final production
- Work on precision components and tooling for aerospace, defense, and energy applications
This role suits a CNC engineer who likes owning a part from program to finished piece and wants to help build machining capability at an advanced manufacturing startup. If that sounds like you, apply below.
