About the role

Our client is hiring an experienced Data Center Operations Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of a mission-critical data center. You’ll keep the facility safe, reliable, and running efficiently, while leading technical teams and coordinating with engineering, infrastructure, and external partners.

You’ll oversee the critical infrastructure that keeps the data center online, including power, cooling, UPS systems, generators, PDUs, HVAC, and environmental monitoring. Operations of this kind are typically supported by a DCIM platform for monitoring and capacity tracking and a CMMS for maintenance scheduling, with electrical work carried out under safety practices such as NFPA 70E and lockout/tagout. Facilities are often designed against resilience standards such as the Uptime Institute Tier classifications, and efficiency is commonly tracked through metrics like PUE.

On the IT side, you’ll coordinate server deployment, rack installation, cabling, hardware maintenance, break/fix work, and equipment upgrades. You’ll also track capacity across power, cooling, space, and network connectivity, and support the deployment of new capacity as the environment expands.

Strong process is central to the role. You’ll develop and maintain SOPs, MOPs, EOPs, and maintenance documentation, coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance with vendors, contractors, and manufacturers, and manage incidents and changes. When high-pressure incidents happen, you’ll be expected to make clear, confident decisions.

Main responsibilities
  • Lead day-to-day data center operations, keeping infrastructure available, reliable, and efficient
  • Manage and develop a team of data center technicians, engineers, and operations personnel
  • Oversee critical infrastructure, including power, cooling, UPS, generators, PDUs, HVAC, and environmental monitoring systems
  • Coordinate server deployment, rack installation, cabling, hardware maintenance, break/fix activities, and equipment upgrades
  • Develop and maintain SOPs, MOPs, EOPs, maintenance procedures, and operational documentation
  • Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance with internal teams, vendors, contractors, and equipment manufacturers
  • Track capacity across power, cooling, space, network connectivity, and other critical infrastructure
  • Support the deployment and expansion of new data center capacity
  • Work closely with infrastructure, network, hardware, facilities, and engineering teams to support large-scale compute environments
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in data center operations, critical facilities, infrastructure operations, or a similar mission-critical environment
  • Experience leading or managing technical operations teams
  • Strong understanding of data center infrastructure, including power distribution, UPS systems, generators, cooling systems, HVAC, and environmental monitoring
  • Strong understanding of data center operational procedures, incident management, change management, and preventive maintenance
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make decisions during high-pressure incidents
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to coordinate across technical teams, vendors, and senior stakeholders

Nice to have:

  • Experience supporting high-density server, networking, GPU, HPC, cloud, or large-scale compute infrastructure
  • Experience in hyperscale, AI infrastructure, HPC, cloud, colocation, or large-scale GPU data centers
  • Experience with high-density compute deployments, liquid cooling, advanced thermal management, high-voltage electrical systems, network infrastructure, or rapid data center expansion
The offer
  • Locations available in Texas, Georgia, or Arizona
  • Leadership of day-to-day operations in a mission-critical data center environment
  • Involvement in expanding data center capacity

This role suits a data center operations leader who’s comfortable owning a critical facility, leading a technical team, and staying calm when incidents hit. If that sounds like you, apply below.
