Our client is looking for a Director of Engineering to own the technical strategy and hands-on execution of our power generation projects – from early concept through design, construction, commissioning, and handover. This is a builder’s role: you’ll lead a multidisciplinary engineering team, work directly with EPC partners and OEMs, and be accountable for getting generation assets designed, built, and running reliably.
What You’ll Do
- Own engineering across the full project lifecycle – concept, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup
- Set technical direction and engineering standards as the business scales, building process where it doesn’t yet exist
- Manage relationships with EPC firms, OEMs, and vendors, holding them accountable for technical quality
- Lead integration of core generation systems including turbines, generators, electrical infrastructure, controls, and rotating equipment
- Make the call on equipment selection, specs, and technical tradeoffs, often with incomplete information and tight timelines
- Drive commissioning and performance testing to get plants operational and hitting targets
- Work closely with founders and operations leadership as a core part of the leadership team
- Help build the engineering organization as the company grows – hiring, budget, and capability development
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or a related engineering field
- 10+ years in power generation, thermal energy, or large-scale energy infrastructure, including senior technical leadership
- A track record of delivering generation projects end-to-end, not just designing on paper
- Comfort operating with startup speed and ambiguity – this isn’t a role with a playbook already written
- Strong communication skills, translating technical complexity for investors, partners, and non-technical stakeholders
