Overview
We are seeking a Director of Engineering to lead the technical strategy and execution of large-scale industrial energy and infrastructure projects from concept through design, construction, commissioning, and operational handover. This role oversees multidisciplinary engineering teams and external partners to deliver safe, reliable, and high-performance industrial systems, including thermal energy, power generation, and facility infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead engineering across the full project lifecycle: concept, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, startup, and handover.
- Define engineering standards, technical strategy, and design governance for capital projects.
- Manage EPC firms, engineering consultants, OEMs, and vendors to ensure technical quality and alignment with project goals.
- Oversee integration of complex systems (thermal utilities, steam/hot water, power generation, electrical distribution, controls, rotating equipment).
- Provide cross-discipline technical leadership (mechanical, electrical, civil, process, controls).
- Lead technical risk management and resolve complex engineering challenges.
- Oversee equipment selection, specifications, and technical bid evaluations.
- Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
- Lead commissioning, performance testing, and operational readiness.
- Partner with project, operations, and executive teams to deliver capital projects successfully.
- Drive system optimization for safety, reliability, performance, and lifecycle cost.
- Support engineering staffing, capability development, budgeting, and organizational growth.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Industrial, Systems Engineering, or related field.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in industrial energy systems, utilities, manufacturing, or large infrastructure.
- Proven leadership of multidisciplinary engineering teams at a senior level.
- Strong track record delivering full lifecycle industrial capital projects.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred
- Experience in petrochemical, manufacturing, district energy, data centers, utilities, or heavy industry.
- Exposure to CHP/cogeneration, combined cycle, or integrated energy systems.
- EPC/EPCM project delivery experience.
- PE license or advanced technical degree.
