About the role

Our client is hiring an Electrical Engineer to join a growing engineering team working on a medical device platform. You’ll support the design, development, and validation of the platform’s electronic systems, helping bring safe, reliable, and compliant products from concept through to commercialization.

The role covers the full hardware development cycle. You’ll design, simulate, and validate analog and digital circuits, including power management, sensor interfaces, and signal processing. You’ll also develop schematics and PCB layouts, typically using tools such as Altium Designer or OrCAD. You’ll support system-level architecture decisions that balance performance, safety, manufacturability, and cost, then test, debug, and troubleshoot prototypes and production units at the bench.

Compliance runs through everything. You’ll support EMC/EMI testing, commonly carried out to IEC 60601-1-2 for medical electrical equipment, as well as electrical safety testing to IEC 60601-1. You’ll author and execute verification and validation protocols, take part in risk management under ISO 14971 including FMEA development, and maintain design history file (DHF) documentation in line with design control procedures.

You’ll work closely with Mechanical Engineering, Software, Quality, and Regulatory Affairs. That includes defining hardware-software interfaces with firmware teams, supporting design transfer to manufacturing with Operations and Supply Chain, and contributing to regulatory submissions as needed.

Main responsibilities
  • Design, simulate, and validate analog and digital circuits for medical device applications, including power management, sensor interfaces, and signal processing
  • Develop schematics, PCB layouts, and supporting documentation in accordance with design control procedures
  • Support system-level architecture decisions, balancing performance, safety, manufacturability, and cost
  • Conduct bench-level testing, debugging, and troubleshooting of prototypes and production units
  • Collaborate with firmware/software teams to define hardware-software interfaces
  • Support EMC/EMI testing, electrical safety testing (IEC 60601-1), and other compliance activities
  • Author and execute verification and validation protocols for electrical subsystems
  • Participate in risk management activities (ISO 14971), including FMEA development
  • Support design transfer to manufacturing, working with Operations and Supply Chain on DFM/DFT considerations
  • Maintain DHF documentation and support regulatory submissions as needed
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field
  • 3+ years of electrical engineering experience
  • Strong foundation in analog/digital circuit design, PCB design, and embedded systems
  • Familiarity with IEC 60601-1, ISO 13485, ISO 14971, and FDA 21 CFR 820 design control requirements
  • Experience with schematic capture and PCB design tools
  • Hands-on lab experience with standard test equipment, such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and power supplies
  • Working knowledge of EMC/EMI principles and pre-compliance testing
  • Strong problem-solving skills and comfort working cross-functionally in an environment that moves quickly

Nice to have:

  • Electrical engineering experience within medical devices or another regulated industry
  • Experience with battery-powered or wireless medical devices
  • Familiarity with firmware/embedded C for hardware bring-up and debug
  • Experience supporting FDA submissions
  • Exposure to DFMEA, DVP&R, and formal design verification/validation processes

This role suits an electrical engineer who enjoys owning circuit design through to validation and wants to work on medical devices where safety and compliance shape every decision. If that sounds like you, apply below.

This field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.
