Estimator/Project Manager – Commercial Drywall and Framing
About the role

Our client is an established commercial specialty contractor in the greater Chicago market, with decades of experience delivering interior construction across Illinois. The company self-performs metal stud framing, drywall, acoustical ceilings, and interior specialty work across healthcare, retail, hospitality, and commercial projects. It’s hiring an experienced Estimator/Project Manager to join the team.

This is a combined role. You’ll estimate projects from bid through award, then manage the projects you win through to completion. On the estimating side, you’ll perform quantity takeoffs and build detailed estimates for commercial drywall and framing work, typically using takeoff tools such as On-Screen Takeoff or Bluebeam Revu.

Once a project is awarded, you’ll manage it from pre-bid through closeout, overseeing budgets, schedules, and subcontractor coordination. You’ll also review and approve contracts, change orders, and cost documents. Project management on the subcontractor side commonly involves monthly pay applications, often on AIA G702/G703 forms, and close tracking of change order pricing and approvals.

Relationships are central to the role. You’ll work directly with general contractors, clients, and field teams across the Chicago market, making sure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the right scope and quality.
