Junior Estimator – Commercial Drywall

About the role
Our client is a growing commercial drywall contractor in Connecticut, adding a Junior Estimator to its team. This role suits an estimator with 3-5 years of commercial construction estimating experience who wants to keep developing their career with a growing company.
You’ll review plans, specifications, and project documents, then carry out detailed quantity takeoffs and prepare estimates. Commercial drywall and interior estimating typically covers scopes such as metal stud framing, gypsum board, insulation, acoustical ceilings, and fire-rated assemblies, usually organized under CSI MasterFormat Division 09. Takeoffs are commonly done in software such as On-Screen Takeoff, PlanSwift, or Bluebeam Revu.
Alongside takeoffs, you’ll solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor pricing and help put together bids and proposals. You’ll also support the handoff to project teams once work is won.
You’ll work closely with senior estimators, project managers, and project teams, managing several estimates and deadlines at once. Strong attention to detail and good organization are essential to keeping bids accurate and on time.

Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience in commercial construction estimating
- Comfortable reading plans and specifications
- Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong communication and analytical skills
- Motivated to grow in a construction environment that moves quickly
