Lumicity has partnered with an early-stage, growing Defense & Aerospace company based in Orange County, California, on their search for a Propulsion Design Engineer to join their team. The client is in the early stages of development and is seeking a hands-on engineer who can take ownership of the full lifecycle of gas turbines and, more specifically, their engines.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of the full lifecycle of turbomachinery (turbines, turbine engines, jet engines, high-speed rotating machinery, etc.) from design to prototype, analysis, testing, and through to validation
- Carry out hand calculations, FEA, thermal, structural, fatigue, and vibration analysis to validate designs
- Produce detailed CAD models, engineering drawings, and assembly documentation
- Support the testing of designs and prototypes, working closely with the manufacturing team
- Produce 3D drawings and entire rotating assemblies for engines and their components
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a similar field
- 4+ years’ experience in high-speed rotating machinery design, preferably turbines, engines, propulsion, and combustion systems
- Extensive knowledge of FEA, thermal, structural, fatigue, and vibration analysis, with knowledge of ANSYS
- Proficient in a variety of CAD software (SolidWorks, NX, Fusion360, etc.)
- Previous experience working within a startup environment highly advantageous
- US Citizen or Green Card Holder
