A rapidly growing, venture-backed advanced energy company is seeking a Senior Nuclear Engineer to join its core engineering team. The company is developing next-generation nuclear systems focused on scalable, deployable reactor technologies for real-world energy applications.
The Role
This is a high-impact technical position at the heart of reactor design and analysis. You will lead advanced modeling and simulation efforts across reactor physics, thermal-hydraulics, and safety analysis, while influencing critical design decisions. The role combines deep analytical work with cross-functional collaboration in a fast-paced, engineering-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and perform complex neutronics, thermal-hydraulic, and multiphysics analyses
- Develop, validate, and maintain detailed reactor and safety models
- Conduct core physics, shielding, and criticality analyses
- Review and approve engineering calculations and safety assessments
- Support design basis development, licensing documentation, and technical evaluations
- Mentor junior engineers and guide analytical best practices
- Collaborate across engineering teams to integrate analysis into design and development
- Engage in technical reviews, regulatory discussions, and continuous improvement initiatives
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nuclear Engineering or related field
- 8+ years of experience in nuclear engineering, reactor physics, or safety analysis
- Strong background in neutronics, criticality, or core analysis
- Experience with tools such as MCNP, SCALE, SERPENT, TRACE, MELCOR, or VERA
- Proven ability to perform and review complex engineering calculations
- Experience with multiphysics modeling, shielding analysis, and thermal analysis
- Strong technical communication skills and ability to operate independently
