About the role

Our client is a growing maritime autonomy company with autonomous vessels already deployed on real-world missions. It’s hiring a Senior Perception Engineer to develop and deploy the perception systems those vessels rely on, working directly with the founding team and CTO.

You’ll own the full perception lifecycle, from sensor integration and data pipelines through to model training, evaluation, and deployment. The work centers on radar, camera perception, and multimodal sensor fusion, feeding into autonomous navigation. Perception at sea brings its own challenges, such as sea clutter in radar returns, glare and reflections off the water, spray, fog, and constant vessel motion. Systems in this space often also fuse data from sources like AIS, GPS, and IMUs to build an accurate picture of the surroundings.

You’ll write modern C++ and Python, and develop and deploy perception and ML models, typically using frameworks such as PyTorch alongside tools like TensorRT and ROS 2 for running models on vessel hardware. Working with real-world sensor data is a big part of the job. You’ll integrate sensors, handle calibration, and debug perception failures in deployed systems.

Main responsibilities
  • Develop and deploy perception systems for autonomous vessels operating in real-world environments
  • Own the full perception lifecycle, from sensor integration and data pipelines to model deployment
  • Develop, train, evaluate, and deploy perception and ML models
  • Work on radar and camera perception, sensor fusion, and autonomous navigation problems

  • Strong hands-on modern C++ and Python
  • Hands-on experience developing, training, evaluating, and deploying perception/ML models
  • Ability to work with real-world sensor data, integrate sensors, and debug perception failures
  • Strong understanding of end-to-end robotics or autonomous vehicle perception stacks
  • Experience with radar, cameras, or multimodal sensor fusion
  • Background in autonomous driving, robotics, or deployed autonomous systems
  • U.S. citizenship
The offer
