About the role
Our client is an established renewable energy company in the Bay Area. It’s expanding its engineering team with an experienced Senior Power Electronics Engineer to work on power conversion products, taking them from early concept through to production.
Your work will span the full development cycle. You’ll create and prototype new designs, then test them, troubleshoot issues, and refine them until they’re ready for production. Power converters, particularly DC/DC converters, are at the heart of the role, along with the wider power systems they fit into. Design work in this field commonly involves selecting and optimizing converter topologies, working with SiC and GaN devices, designing magnetics and gate drives, and tuning control loops. Circuits are typically modeled in simulation tools such as PLECS, SIMetrix, or LTspice before hardware is built.
Moving designs into production means balancing efficiency, thermal management, EMI, and reliability. For renewable energy products that connect to the grid, that usually also means designing toward certification standards such as UL 1741 and IEEE 1547.
