Senior Reliability Electrical Engineer

Location: Houston, TX / Hybrid, 3 days a week in office / Salary: Up to $170,000 base + up to 20% bonus

About the role

Our client is a Houston-based company that develops and delivers specialized materials and process solutions for advanced manufacturing, healthcare, energy, and research. It’s hiring a Senior Reliability Electrical Engineer to help solve large-scale reliability, safety, and optimization challenges across its plant electrical systems.

The role is hands-on and plant-focused. You’ll work on high-voltage electrical systems and equipment, improving reliability and maintenance practices so operations run safely and consistently. Reliability engineering in industrial plants typically covers equipment such as switchgear, transformers, motors, drives, and protective relays. It involves predictive and preventive maintenance techniques such as infrared thermography, partial discharge testing, and transformer oil analysis, with maintenance commonly guided by NFPA 70B and electrical safety by NFPA 70E.

You’ll also lead root cause analysis on electrical failures and use maintenance data, often managed in a CMMS, to prioritize improvements. Some roles in this space also involve working with EPC contractors on upgrades and capital projects, so experience interfacing with EPCs is a plus.

Main responsibilities
  • Improve the reliability, safety, and performance of plant electrical systems
  • Support maintenance strategies for high-voltage electrical equipment
  • Provide hands-on electrical engineering support at the plant
  • Investigate electrical failures and recommend corrective actions
  • Work on reliability and optimization challenges across large-scale industrial systems
Requirements
  • 5+ years of electrical engineering experience
  • Reliability and maintenance experience
  • Hands-on plant experience
  • High-voltage experience
  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering
  • Authorization to work in the US without visa sponsorship

Nice to have:

  • Experience with industrial three-phase power systems
  • Experience interfacing with EPCs
  • PE license
The offer
  • Up to $170,000 base salary
  • Up to 20% bonus
  • Full benefits, including 401(k)
  • Hybrid working, 3 days a week in the Houston office

This role suits an electrical engineer with hands-on plant and high-voltage experience who wants to own reliability across critical industrial systems. If that sounds like you, apply below.
