Location: Shreveport, LA region (initial training in Washington, D.C.) / Duration: Data center project scheduled for approximately 12 months / Working pattern: Travel rotation

About the role

Our client, a construction company based in the Washington, D.C./Northern Virginia region, is hiring Traveling Project Managers for a data center project in the Shreveport, Louisiana region. The project has been given critical status, and the company is adding project managers to support it from the start.

You’ll begin with a full-time training period in D.C., lasting around one month, before moving to Shreveport to start work on the data center. The project is scheduled to run for approximately 12 months. You’ll work on a travel rotation, returning home every two weeks, though this may extend to three or four weeks depending on delays and deadlines.

Data center construction is fast-moving and MEP-heavy, so project management roles in this space typically involve coordinating mechanical, electrical, and plumbing trades, managing schedules in tools such as Primavera P6, and tracking RFIs and submittals through platforms such as Procore. The work usually involves leading owner-architect-contractor (OAC) meetings, and supporting the handover to commissioning as power and cooling systems come online.

The client has an established backlog of projects and several repeat clients, and is expanding into new markets. Once this project finishes, the role could become a long-term position.

Main responsibilities
  • Manage delivery of a critical-status data center construction project in the Shreveport, Louisiana region
  • Complete a one-month training period in Washington, D.C. before moving to the project site
  • Work on a travel rotation for the duration of the project
  • Coordinate project activity across trades, subcontractors, and stakeholders
  • Support the project through to completion over a scheduled 12-month period
Requirements
  • At least 2-3 years of experience as an established Project Manager or MEP Manager
  • Prior exposure to data center construction projects
  • Based in the D.C./Northern Virginia region, or willing to relocate temporarily for the training period
  • Open to a travel rotation of every two weeks, which may extend to three or four weeks depending on project needs
The offer
  • Higher base salary than the client’s non-traveling employees
  • Travel allowance covering flights, lodging, and expenses while working away
  • Return home on a standard two-week rotation cycle
  • One month of full-time training in Washington, D.C.
  • Data center project scheduled for approximately 12 months
  • Potential to become a long-term opportunity after the project finishes

This role suits a project manager with data center construction experience who’s comfortable on a travel rotation and wants to deliver a critical project from the ground up. If that sounds like you, apply below.
