About the role
Our client is hiring a Vehicle Operator Shift Supervisor to lead a team of Vehicle Operators (VOs) supporting autonomous vehicle operations and testing. This is a player-coach role. You’ll supervise the team and keep standards high, while working alongside them each day and stepping into operational tasks yourself when needed.
You’ll make sure the team understands and meets both daily and longer-term goals, and that software and hardware tests are completed correctly and to standard. In autonomous vehicle fleet operations, this typically includes pre-drive vehicle and sensor checks, accurate logging of disengagements and takeovers, and incident reporting, all carried out under strict safety protocols. You’ll help make sure the fleet and team are ready to complete assigned missions safely.
People leadership is at the center of the role. You’ll coach, motivate, and mentor team members to meet safety and performance goals, give regular written and verbal feedback, and help with scheduling, coordination, and administrative work. You’ll also work with contractors to make sure they understand their responsibilities and complete their assigned work correctly.
You’ll work closely with other Fleet Operations leaders to keep operations safe and efficient, solve problems as they come up during a shift, and communicate updates, expectations, and technical information to both your team and leadership. Over time, you’ll become an expert in the vehicle operations software and systems the team relies on.
