About the role

Our client is a highly technical manufacturing organization. It’s looking for a Vice President of Operations to scale the business and build the infrastructure needed for continued growth. This is a senior executive role with responsibility for manufacturing, engineering, facilities, quality, supply chain, and operational development.

A major focus will be increasing manufacturing capacity to support revenue growth. You’ll lead facility expansion, equipment acquisition, construction projects, and production scale-up, while growing the teams needed to deliver them. That includes recruiting and developing engineering, manufacturing, and operations staff as the organization expands.

You’ll work closely with R&D, Sales, Marketing, and Finance, so cross-functional leadership is central to the role. In a technical manufacturing environment, that often means helping move technologies from development into reliable commercial production, and building the quality systems, processes, and capital plans that make scale-up repeatable.

The role is expected to evolve into a Chief Operating Officer (COO) position as the company continues to grow.

Main responsibilities
  • Lead manufacturing, engineering, facilities, quality, supply chain, and operational development
  • Scale manufacturing capacity to support revenue growth
  • Lead facility expansion, equipment acquisition, and construction projects
  • Drive production scale-up across the organization
  • Recruit, build, and develop engineering, manufacturing, and operations teams
  • Manage P&L, budgeting, forecasting, and capital planning for operations
  • Work cross-functionally with R&D, Engineering, Supply Chain, Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Quality
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Operations, or a related technical field
  • 10+ years of progressive manufacturing or operations leadership experience
  • Proven experience expanding manufacturing facilities, increasing production capacity, and supporting revenue growth
  • Experience managing facility expansions, construction teams, capital projects, and equipment acquisition
  • Experience recruiting and developing engineering, manufacturing, and operations teams
  • Strong financial acumen, including P&L management, budgeting, forecasting, and capital planning
  • Strong executive leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
  • U.S. citizenship required

Nice to have:

  • Experience in nuclear, aerospace, defense, semiconductor, advanced materials, specialty chemicals, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments
  • Experience scaling a smaller or mid-sized technical manufacturing organization
  • Experience transitioning R&D technologies into commercial production
  • MBA or advanced business degree
The offer
  • Senior executive role leading operations for a technical manufacturing organization
  • Clear path to Chief Operating Officer (COO) as the company grows

This role suits an operations leader who has scaled technical manufacturing before and wants the chance to build an organization on the way to a COO seat. If that’s your background, apply below.
