VP of Construction – Data Centers
Location: Remote / Salary: Up to $300,000 base
About the role
Our client is a data center company hiring multiple VPs of Construction. Each VP will oversee data center construction projects from concept through completion. The role is remote.
You’ll lead projects across their full lifecycle, from early planning and design coordination through construction, commissioning, and handover. Brownfield and retrofit experience is a key requirement. Converting or upgrading existing buildings into data centers typically brings challenges such as working around existing structures, upgrading power and cooling capacity, phasing work to limit disruption at live or partially operating sites, and coordinating complex MEP scopes.
Data center projects of this scale usually involve managing general contractors and trade partners under delivery models such as design-build or CM at risk, controlling budgets and schedules, and working through structured commissioning, commonly organized into levels from factory testing through integrated systems testing. A background in data center design or engineering is a plus, as it helps when weighing design decisions against construction cost, schedule, and constructability.
Main responsibilities
- Oversee data center construction projects from concept through completion
- Lead brownfield and retrofit data center construction projects
- Manage project budgets, schedules, and delivery
- Coordinate with design, engineering, contractors, and internal stakeholders
- Oversee commissioning and handover of completed facilities
Requirements
- 12+ years of construction experience
- 6+ years of data center construction experience
- Experience with brownfield or retrofit data center construction
